Quality of Agri. Products and food products is one of the most critical factors in deciding the usability of these products. Historically the advent of quality inspection took place with Agri. Products / commodities.
Till beginning of the 20th Century, as the trading of food grains was on geographically limited scale, the traders exercised their control by accompanying the cargoes to all places. But subsequently with spread of trading activity to national and trans-national levels this type of control became increasingly impractical and uneconomical. Hence the job of supervision and control was given to neutral third party organizations.
